How to Extend the Service Life of Wet Membrane Humidifiers? Aolan Solves Your Core Concerns

Oct 30, 2025

The wet membrane humidifier is currently a humidification method with the shortest humidification section and the most space-saving design. When water flows through the wet curtain, it forms a thin film on the surface. As air passes through the wet curtain, it contacts and evaporates the water film, thereby absorbing heat from the air and achieving a cooling effect. Simultaneously, the evaporated moisture enters the air, increasing its humidity.

However, if the wet curtain is not chosen properly, issues such as poor humidification effect, unpleasant odors, and failure to meet fire safety standards can arise. Furthermore, as the core component of humidification and cooling equipment in industrial, commercial, and data center applications, the wet membrane humidifier affects the service life of the entire refrigeration and humidification system. To maintain cooling and humidification performance throughout the system's operation, the material of the wet membrane/curtain is crucial.

Therefore, the selection of the wet curtain must be taken very seriously. Wet membrane humidifiers rely on the membrane body's water absorption to achieve humidification. If the membrane's water absorption is poor, the humidification effect will definitely be unsatisfactory. Generally, the ranking of membrane water absorption performance from worst to best is: stainless steel wet membrane < fiberglass wet membrane < organic wet membrane < polymer wet membrane, with polymer wet membranes having the best water absorption performance.

While inferior wet membranes may be low-cost, problems emerge during use.

In high-humidity environments, issues like mold, bacterial growth, deterioration, and deformation arise one after another. Coupled with materials that cannot withstand repeated washing, their short service life makes after-sales support a significant challenge.

From a user experience perspective, moldy and bacteria-ridden wet curtains essentially deliver contaminated air indoors, leading to numerous instances of "secondary pollution" and "cross-contamination". Long-term production or living in such an environment cannot guarantee health safety.

From a systemic structural standpoint, deteriorated and deformed wet curtains pose significant risks to the system's integrity. They are most likely to cause airflow blockages, leading to equipment failure.

Frequently replacing inferior wet curtains that cannot be cleaned or maintained might seem like a solution, but users must carefully consider the problems of short lifespan and high maintenance costs.

Aolan has invested significant R&D efforts into wet curtain technology and has now launched multiple antibacterial, mold-resistant, and high-efficiency evaporation wet curtain products. This continuously expands the application fields of evaporative cooling technology, making it safer and meeting various demands for cooling, humidification, and air treatment in highly demanding environments.

7090 Evaporative Cooling Pads

Aolan wet membrane humidifiers use wet curtains made from imported long-fiber grade raw pulp, with a water absorption efficiency of up to 250% and an evaporation efficiency of 95%. They feature a long service life, no odor, and contain no phenol or other substances harmful to humans, complying with environmental standards ROHS and REACH. With patented formulations, they possess authoritative antibacterial and mold-resistant certifications.

For water evaporation equipment with fire safety requirements, fire-resistant wet curtains made from polymer materials or inorganic fiberglass materials can be selected as options. These offer Class B1 flame retardancy, are made from specially formulated polymer materials with high water absorption, high chemical stability, resistance to acids and alkalis, strong weather resistance, and do not decay. Aolan's fire-resistant wet curtains have broken the foreign monopoly in this technology, significantly reducing product production costs, and promoting the development of new evaporative cooling products in China. Currently, these products are widely used in telecommunications, data centers, large public buildings, and related fields.
